The Harry Fox Agency Optimizes Client Access with OpenConnect
Music Licensing Company Seamlessly Extends AS/400 Applications and Information

DALLAS - Dec. 6, 2005 - OpenConnect Systems, Inc., delivering technology solutions that turn mainframe assets into business value, announced today the results of another customer success and a new initiative with the premier U.S. mechanical rights organization The Harry Fox Agency (HFA). Building on its initial deployment with OpenConnect, longstanding client HFA again selected the mainframe and Web innovator as a strategic partner to optimize and customize access to midrange applications and information.

"For more than five years, OpenConnect has provided the solutions we need to cost-effectively extend our legacy IT investments," said Frank Wander, CIO & Senior Vice President, HFA. "We have become a repeat customer of OpenConnect based on the company's unique expertise in both mainframe and Web technologies and ability to customize solutions to our very specific business needs. Across a series of projects, we have been very happy with both the service and the quality of their products."

HFA, the U.S. mechanical rights agent for almost 28,000 music publishers, needs to provide secure online access to tools for HFA's publisher customers to review activity and interact with their catalogs; the record labels and other companies that license those catalogs; and HFA's own internal support applications. HFA first worked with OpenConnect in 1999 to transition its software-based application (POLI+) for its publisher clients to a secure Web-based interface that could access information located on HFA's backend AS/400 midrange computing system.

In 2004, HFA deployed WebConnect, OpenConnect's client-server based software that provides secure browser-based emulation to mainframe, midrange and UNIX systems, to integrate POLI+ with a new, password-protected Website for its customers. WebConnect provided for the migration of SSL-encrypted data and applications from HFA's midrange IBM AS/400 system to the Web browser-based portal, and it allowed HFA to quickly bring this new application for its customers to the marketplace.

"From day one, OpenConnect has built its business on cultivating lasting partnerships with customers like HFA that need to securely extend mainframe assets to newer systems," said Edward M. Peters, chief executive officer, OpenConnect Systems, Inc. "OpenConnect is uniquely positioned to comprehend customers' specific needs and pain points, offering fully customizable solutions that save time and money, improve return on legacy technology investments and minimize risk.

In September 2005, Harry Fox turned again to OpenConnect to further refine the options of its POLI+ system and integrate PDF document viewing through the application. OpenConnect's professional services team addressed HFA's most pressing usability and scalability requirements. Minimizing the number of screens a user must click through to access needed information was a key part of the customization process and greatly increased ease of use and convenience for customers.
