OPENCONNECT ANNOUNCES LATEST UPGRADE TO SNA ACCESS SERVER
Latest Release Adds Enterprise Extender, Providing Users with Access to SNA Applications over Linux on zSeries Platform.

DALLAS , TEXAS (October 19, 2004) — OpenConnect Systems, Inc., the pioneer of secure mainframe-to-web solutions, today announced the availability of SNA Access Server 4.2.3. The new release provides organizations with support for Linux on IBM's zSeries.

SNA Access Server provides secure connectivity and interoperability between SNA host systems and TCP/IP networks. The latest upgrade, version 4.2.3, supports the Linux on zSeries Platform, which can help transform businesses into true on demand operating environments. Enterprise Extender, available from IBM, is an industry-standard SNA/IP integration solution. By implementing the Enterprise Extender in the OpenConnect SNA Access Server, organizations can use zSeries Servers to convert SNA to TCP/IP data streams. The addition of the Enterprise Extender data link allows organizations to run SNA Access Server 4.2.3 over an IP network, no longer restricting the user to Ethernet or Token Ring platforms.

Built on open standards, Linux running on zSeries servers gives organizations freedom of choice in middleware. zSeries solutions incorporate workload management technology that can enable your Linux applications to share computing resources and to allocate them dynamically as needed.

To derive even more business value from SNA Access Server, organizations can integrate the solution with OpenConnect’s WebConnect. WebConnect is client-server based software that provides secure browser based emulation to mainframe, midrange and UNIX systems. By integrating SNA Access Server, WebConnect is readily available to even more organizations that already have Linux on zSeries. Because WebConnect is non-intrusive, it provides secure SSL encrypted information migration and access without requiring modification to the host.

"As companies expand nationally and globally, the need to create simple, secure and scalable connectivity between networks increases," said Stuart Burris, president and CTO at OpenConnect Systems. "SNA Access Server 4.2.3 provides enterprises with the features they need to provide employees, customers, suppliers and partners with consistent access to critical business information, and now they can fully utilize Linux zSeries for the mainframe."

Fortune 1000 companies in manufacturing, transportation, banking and finance, communications, health care, insurance, government and education sectors utilize SNA Access Server to facilitate the sharing of business critical information with new users, business partners, and suppliers.
